It’s called Arbaʿāt and it’s “in the Red Sea Hills”. It is a wadi, a valley, where rainwater and underground streams are collected. They have built a dam and in the middle of this gorge mountains and barren and sunny rocks, a splendid oasis has been created.
It is a natural and unspoiled environment, currently little frequented, except by the dam guardians and some nomads, or some rare farmer who grows vegetables.
It would be interesting to bring a telephoto lens to photograph birds, herons, migrating birds, some birds of prey, hawks.
Nothing programmable: you can walk with pristine greenery, nature around you, discovering it’s secrets and it’s seasons.
It is an opportunity to see something of the Sudanese land, to spend a few pleasant hours to deceive the waiting for the departure.
The images will tell you about this reality, more than any explanation.
BLU SUDAN ORGANIZES THE EXCURSION
Program: departure at 8.30 am from the boat and return at noon, or at 2 pm and return at 6 pm.
We will use a private bus. The wadi is about 50 km of paved road, and 5 final track.
To reach the beginning of the walk we will take about an hour.
The excursion includes a minimum of 10, maximum 20 people.
We will offer a mint tea, sitting on mats, in a place of beautiful view, shaded, like Bedouin-style. It is perfect place where to dream of the desert and how beautiful it would be to stay there and wait for the stars…
Upon return, on request, we can stop for a short visit to the Emergency pediatric hospital. Just before Port Sudan, in a very poor area, where donations would be very gratefully received.
A jewel: a white building in a very poor suburb, almost in nowhere. One of Emergency’s miracles.
